Special Olympics Basketball: WestEnd Whitecaps Team(s)Special OlympicsWe welcome players of all abilities, ages, and areas who want to learn or improve their basic basketball skills, while having a good time with their fellow players and coaches. Players can participate in either individual skill areas or team events with players of a similar ability. Our teams play half-court games. With the Minnesota Special Olympics hosting the 2026 USA Summer Games, there will be no separate Minnesota State Tournament. We will be competing only in a Minnesota Special Olympics Regional tournament in late April 2026. All players are encouraged to participate in the Regional tournament. Summer Football CampFootball> Entering grades 3 - 8 Get ready for the fall season with this high-energy, three-day youth football camp focused on skill development and fun. Athletes will receive instruction in offensive, defensive, and specialty skills—including kicking and punting—while learning the importance of teamwork and playing multiple positions. This camp is designed to build confidence, improve fundamentals, and prepare participants for the upcoming football season. Athletes should wear athletic clothing and shoes and bring a labeled water bottle each day. Summer Math By Mail for ElementaryGeneral EnrichmentSummer Math by Mail for Elementary > Completed grades 2 - 6 in 2025-2026 Ms. Jill Yeager is currently a classroom teacher with over 33 years of experience. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a MA Ed.in Curriculum and instruction. During her career she has taught in grades 3-6 and has also been an instructional coach for teachers teaching kindergarten through 6th grade. She has been offering Summer Math by Mail in nine school districts for over 18 years. Jill Yeager Registration deadline: June 27, Return by August 13. #7184-S1 - Summer Math by Mail Grades K - 1 Completed Kindergarten or 1st grades in 25-26 K-One Summer Math by Mail has been developed to review and enrich math concepts for kindergarteners and first graders. It offers practice of previously learned concepts to keep skills sharp and build confidence through "pen-pal" style correspondence. It is not a tutoring program and it is not designed to advance students ahead. Participants will receive a pretest to determine math skills and individualize their program. Then they will receive nine weeks of lessons. After they have completed a week’s worth of work, mail it in, and we’ll make corrections, provide comments, and mail it back! Students work at their own pace. Kids love receiving their returned assignments each week in the mail! When all lessons are completed, students will receive a meal coupon. #7184-S2 - Summer Math by Mail Grades 2 - 6 Completed grades 2 - 6 in 2025-2026 Keep your math skills sharp over the summer! This 10-week correspondence program was developed by a veteran teacher. Materials that students will cover during the summer review support concepts they have encountered during their previous school year. Summer Math is not a tutoring program and it is not an enrichment program to advance students ahead. It is a "pen-pal" style correspondence program and offers practice of previously learned concepts to keep skills sharp and build confidence. Students will take a pre-test and fill out a questionnaire to individualize their program. Students will then receive nine weeks of materials. Each week’s packet will include five math lessons with problem-solving activities. The activities will apply to a specific math concept or strand. After the student has completed a packet, they will mail it in. We’ll make corrections, provide feedback and mail it back. Students may start and finish the course at their own pace throughout the strands. When all lessons are completed, students will receive a restaurant meal coupon. Summer Youth Basketball ClinicBasketballAges 3–5 The Summer Youth Basketball Clinic introduces young athletes to basketball through age-appropriate skill progression with a strong emphasis on fun! Participants will develop fundamental skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting in a supportive, energetic environment. The Summer Youth Basketball Clinic is designed for all ability levels and is a great way for our youngest players to build confidence and enjoy being active. Ages 3–4: Children will explore basic ball handling and basketball movements while participating in fun, engaging games that encourage running and coordination. Age 5: Participants will focus on skill development—including dribbling, shooting, and passing—during the first half of each session, followed by a guided scrimmage in the second half. What to Bring: Ages 3-4: A 22-inch basketball for each session. Ages 5-6: A 25.5-inch basketball for each session. Parent Volunteers NeededParent volunteers are essential to the success of our Summer Clinic. We will accept one volunteer for every ten participants per group. Approved volunteers will receive a refund of their child’s registration fee. All volunteer coaches must be registered and approved through the school district (see volunteer registration information). Summertime in the Park is an opportunity for our kids to get outside, enjoy the weather, build friendships and participate in activities. Each day, there will be planned events for the kids to compete with and work together on. Summertime in the Parks is a fun way to burn off energy and get together with friends from school. Please make sure your child has: a labeled water bottle, snack, sunscreen, bug repellent, and hand sanitizer. Breaks will be provided. Week 1 July 20 - 23 - DIS Playground & Grass Field 8 (G8) ( Registration Deadline: July 8) Playground and Field Games Week: Playgrounds & Field Games Week will take place at the Delano Intermediate School Playground and Grass Field 8 and is packed with active outdoor fun.
