Orange Crush Robotics #3026RoboticsGrades 7–12 Join Delano’s award-winning Orange Crush Robotics Team and take part in one of the fastest-growing extracurricular activities in Minnesota! Students in grades 7–12 are invited to join a dynamic team that combines creativity, collaboration, and technology. Whether you’re interested in engineering, building, programming, graphic design, or social media, there’s a place for you on the team. The team meets weekly through the fall, participates in off-season competitions and educational conferences, and prepares for the release of the next challenge. The Competition Season kicks off in January, when the new game is revealed to teams across the country. From that point, members work together to design, build, and program a new robot for the season’s challenges. The competitive season runs January through April, with opportunities to travel and compete at regional events. Team members should be prepared for a more serious time commitment during this exciting, fast-paced part of the year. Learn the basic skills of centering, throwing, trimming, and glazing. During this seven-day camp, first-time and returning potters will get lots and lots of good practice. A few of your best creations will be kept and fired in the kiln. Once fired, pieces will be glazed, making them food-safe. We are sure to make a mess. WaitlistSandlot T-BallBaseball & SoftballDelano Sandlot T-Ball > ages 3 - 5 The Delano Sandlot T-Ball program aims to develop participants’ throwing, catching, hitting, and base-running abilities while learning to be a part of a team. Coaches will use the first twenty minutes of each session to practice the previously mentioned skills, while teams will use the second half of the session to play a game, putting together all of the skills that players practiced. All players will hit off a tee for our games, all players will get to bat each half inning, and the batting teams will switch after the last batter has hit. Participants will be grouped by age. 3-year-olds will be grouped together, 4-year-olds will be grouped together, and 5-year-olds will be grouped together. You may make special requests for your child to be with another child at the time of registration, but not all special requests will be honored due to the need to balance teams. Community Education will provide most equipment, but all participants must bring a baseball glove. Participants are strongly recommended to provide their own batting helmet, but helmets will be provided if they do not have one. Parent volunteers are needed for this program. Please indicate if you are willing to volunteer to help coach when you register your child. We plan to have a volunteer coach’s meeting before the start of the season. Community Education will email the time and location of the meeting to the coaches. Please register by May 18 to be included in the first shirt order to be placed on May 19.
