Child & Babysitting Safety (CABS)
> boys & girls, ages 11+
This American Safety & Health Institute training program is designed to engage and inform the aspiring babysitter. It gives 11 - 14-year-old boys and girls everything they need to know, from getting started to dealing with parents and children to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips.
Course highlights include:
- Fundamental information about babysitting & creating your business.
- Leadership: You’re in charge, but not the parent.
- Basic Caregiving Skills: Feeding, diapering, holding, safe sleep practices
- Play Time: Keeping children entertained and active.
- Safety and Injury Prevention: Phone safety, SIDs awareness, environmental, weather, and preventable hazards.
- First Aid/CPR: Recognizing an emergency, caring for an ill or injured victim, wounds & burn care, choking & CPR.
- Students should bring a pen, notebook, and a beverage to class.

Program Prerequisites: Participants must be able to follow a series of directions, verbally communicate with peers and instructors, and collaborate with their peers.
