Caregiver Connection (Monday Evenings): For parents raising neurodiverse children, children with BIG emotions, and/or unique needs.ECFE Parent ClassesFor parents raising neurodiverse children, children with BIG emotions, and/or unique needs. Adult only class co-hosted with Delano Elementary School. This class offers parents an opportunity to connect with one another in a safe and positive environment. Enjoy topic-based discussion focused on support and resource-sharing. Resources and expert information will be made available and parents are encouraged to share their own wisdom and experience. Caregiver Connection is open to parents of children of any age with a focus on early childhood and elementary years. Winter/Spring DATES & DISCUSSION TOPICs January 12th: Addressing tough social issues (friendships, peer pressure) February 9th: Caregiver self-care, self-compassion, and stress management March 9th: Relationships within the family (siblings, parent-child, and parent-parent) April 13th: Big feelings and regulation Although there are assigned topics for each class, there will be time for questions and concerns from participants. With a focus on connection and building comfort in new spaces, this class includes parent/child tabletop games and manipulatives, sensory experiences, circle time and creative play. In this class, parents and their child(ren) will interact through play experiences designed to meet the growing needs of the curious one and two-year-old. A snack time is offered with parents volunteering to bring store-bought snacks each week. Come learn, engage, and explore in this non-separating OR gradually separating class. In this class, parents and their two and three-year-old children will enjoy parent/child playtime, learning activities, teacher-led circle time for the children and parents, and a separate parent discussion time. While the parents meet in a separate room, the children continue with a snack, large muscle play, dramatic play, music, art, stories, sensory play, and friendship-building! Join us for a fun-filled ECFE class where you and your child enjoy the joy of movement! Both gross motor and fine motor activities are essential for a growing child’s development. In this class, your little one(s) will have the opportunity to jump, run, climb, and slide alongside friends. Parents will have the opportunity to connect with the Parent and Family Educator for a brief discussion on motor development, movement, and play while the children enjoy some supervised play or participate in some exercises! Starting SoonCabin Fever Open GymECFE ClassesAges Birth - Kinder (No refunds available for cancelled or missed sessions) Non-separating. Come and join other community families in the Community Education gymnasium for a morning of movement and play! Get those cooped-up wiggles out in a positive way with running, biking, crawling, and other large motor activities set up for children to enjoy. This is a non-separating class. Caregivers are responsible for child supervision. REGISTRATION NOTE:Registration is required by the Wednesday before each event. Please register all children who will be attending to ensure adequate space and activities. Babies that are held or remain in carseat can attend at no cost (but please register them as well!) Starting SoonCoffee Connection - FREE!ECFE ClassesFor Parents/Adults **This parent discussion time is for parents, adults, caregivers of children of all ages!** It’s time to relax, talk, and enjoy a cup of coffee with other parents! The goal of these classes is to improve parent-child relationships by working toward acceptance and encouragement. Activities will include parent education, games, hands-on activities, parent discussion, and parent sharing. A Parent & Family Educator guides the discussion while children enjoy childcare or you can enroll your older children in Practice Preschool. Sponsored by Delano ECFE/School Readiness, Wright County Human Services, and a Delano-Loretto United Way grant. Sibling care is available for children not yet in Kindergarten, sign-up during registration! Registration for childcare is required. Practice Preschool (child only)ECFE Classesages 2 1/2–Kinder Child only (must be fully potty trained).Practice Preschool is a place where young children begin their learning journey in a brief, inviting preschool environment. Children will grow in their social and emotional skills by practicing turn-taking, standing in line, sitting in circle time, and enjoying free play with new friends. In this class, preschoolers begin to understand what it means to be part of a group - listening, sharing, and cooperating with others. Each class is filled with activities that support early development including art, science, math and literacy. Of course, there’s time for snacks and music along the way! Playful PlatesECFE Special EventsAges birth – seven years old. (Parents stay with their children) Nonseparating. Have you enjoyed Delano ECFE’s Eat, Play, Learn events? Well we have too! The “Playful Plates” event brings your family mealtime WITH the excitement of an ECFE class! Come join in the fun with food, play, circle time, and a variety of activities for your whole family! This non-separating event offers family time, opportunity to connect with other local families, and best of all, dinner has been taken care of! Meals will be served in the cafeteria from 5:30-6:00pm followed by circle time and classroom activities on the second floor until 7pm. Pack up the whole family and join us once each month of the winter and spring! Dad's DayECFE Special EventsChildren ages 2 – 7 years old. (Parents stay with their children) This class was so popular last spring that it was requested by the dads who attended. Calling all dads! This event will offer a variety of fun-filled activities and interactive learning opportunities tailored to the unique way dads interact with their children. Dads and their child(ren) will explore topics like magnets, building, messy art, science, board games, movement, and more. Several spaces will be set up for dads to lead their children throughout the spaces. Come enjoy some Dad-child time! Children are innate scientists and nature provides countless opportunities for discovery, creativity, problem-solving, and STEM education. Come join this class with your child and learn about a variety of planned interactive outdoor activities. Classes are held at Lake Rebecca, so come dressed for the weather! (“There’s no bad weather, just bad clothing!”) ** NOTE: Sibling care is not available however a sibling under 30 months of age is able to attend if you feel you are still able to participate with your preschooler. A wonderful variety of vehicles will be available for you and your family to explore such as a cement mixer, firetruck, police car, school bus, tractors, and more! If the weather cooperates and an emergency doesn’t reroute the helicopter, there may even be a helicopter landing! There will be food trucks at the event as well. Make sure to mark your calendars!
