  • Delano Competition Cheer Team
    Cheer

    New
Grades 7-12 Information Meeting: May 7th, 5:30 pm, at the Delano High School in the Tiger Den. Competition Cheer is a competitive twist on the classic sport of cheerleading. Athletes will learn a combination of skills and work together to build a two-and-a-half-minute routine. Participants will put in the work to perfect the routine and develop skills during practice. They will perform their routine at a variety of local competitions in Minnesota. No experience is required. Uniforms and props will be provided. Athletes will need to buy shoes, spandex, and a bow. Participants will be taught all stunts, jumps, cheer, and dance skills needed to become successful competitive cheerleaders. We expect to compete in four to five-weekend competitions from October through January. The Competition Cheer Team is open to boys and girls in grades 7-12. Athletes do not need to attend Delano Schools, but must be willing to commute to practice and represent Delano at competitions. Listed practice times and locations are subject to change. Coach Holly Roelofs Program Prerequisites: Participants must be able to run, skip, balance on one foot, jump, clap, spin 360 degrees, memorize cheers, follow two-to-three-step directions, verbally communicate with peers and coaches, and work as a team with their peers.
